Subaru Impreza WRX STI - Second Generation

In 2001, the Impreza line received a complete upgrade. The chassis was so that there will be increase 120% torsional stiffness was increased. The WRX STi gained 17 "x 7.5" alloy wheels in the previous 16 "x 7". The 5-speed manual transmission (supposedly one of the weaknesses of the cars) has been changed to an engineering STI 6-speed manual transmission. The engine from the Version 6 STi was maintained and still has the power of the semi-enclosed deck is still seen as the EJ207, but the individual models IHI turbochargers. Inside has been updated with a STi logo on the gauge. Tachometer The STI also has a slight red shift. The STi Type RA STi, and is in front and four-piston Brembo get 2-piston rear brakes while the bare-bones Type RA STi still carried the Subaru 4-piston front and rear 2-piston brakes. Outside, the STI hood and had more balls was STi Foglight covers embossed on them. The DCCD was updated so that can work with anti-braking. During braking, when the ABS is activated, DCCD will begin to open (without blocking).

The classification version has been dropped from the name. Japanese and other car enthusiasts, refer often to the chassis as GDB / GDF (the STi has a "B" or "F" (for USDM models) when the regular WRX had an 'A'). The fourth character VIN is the revision (A through F, G, where is the 2007 version).

For a quick and easy reference outside of the various Subaru Impreza Owners (U.S.) use nicknames on the headlights. Each refers to a creature who seek the same eyes: 2002-2003 the "eyes are bug '/ 2004-2005 the eyes of a crocodile' / 2006-2007 has the eyes of a hawk.
